Through the Valley Wins RNA Religion Documentary of the Year

CML Entertainment was awarded the 2014 RNA Religion Documentary of the Year for Through the Valley at the Religion Newswriters Association’s 65th Annual Conference last month.

Through the Valley tells the story of fathers and daughters across continents and generations who prove that forgiveness and reconciliation are powerful starting points for healing. The film follows two fathers, William Mwizerwa, a Rwandan refugee businessman who brought his family to Nashville after the Rwanda genocide of 1994, and Randy Hartley, a Brentwood businessman who meets and befriends him. These fathers face great challenges and difficult decisions. Through their struggles to provide for and protect their families, their lives intersect, first in America and eventually in Rwanda, and together they learn firsthand the power of forgiveness and reconciliation, and the healing that comes from helping others.

through the valley“Our intent is for Through the Valley to open eyes and hearts to the nation of Rwanda both at home, across Africa and around the world,” director, Kevin McAfee, said.

“My hope is that by sharing the impact of our Rwandan adventure and friendship with the Mwizerwa family others can see the power of forgiveness and reconciliation in their own lives.” Randy Hartley, Brentwood businessman and subject of Through the Valley said.

After resettling his family in Brentwood, William Mwizerwa founded Legacy Mission Village in Nashville to assist refugees.  He used his experience of starting over after being forced to leave his homeland, and applies those lessons to assist the large refugee community in Middle Tennessee.

CML Entertainment offers Through the Valley for screenings at churches or other organizations without charge. DVDs are available for purchase at http://throughthevalleydocumentary.com/.
