Two Mystery Developers Bringing Office Jobs to Spring Hill

At least two developers recently expressed serious interest in building office space in Spring Hill, according to a city economic development report.

At the June Economic Development Commission meeting, EDC director Kayce Williams presented her report on city efforts to lure and shape Spring Hill development.

Williams and her team attended the International Council of Shopping Centers convention in May in Las Vegas to court developers. She reported that while there she took 29 meetings with “serious developers” that met the city’s development criteria– increasing white-collar jobs being one main pillar.

“During these meetings it was strongly communicated that in any major development, there needs to be an element of office space and pursuit of securing companies who can bring white collar jobs,” she said.

“Two verbal commitments were received from developers wishing to locate a project in Spring Hill,” Williams wrote in her report. Additionally, four more developers expressed interest, asking to have further meetings.

The EDC’s focus, affirmed at the EDC meeting by Mayor Rick Graham, should be 80 percent on office/white-colalr jobs.

Williams is following up on the meetings, but at the current time not the city has named the developers or their potential plans.
