Two Local BBQ Joints Named Best Small Town Restaurants

Martin's

If you like Southern food (like the kind your grandma would make), then this foodie list is for you.  Only in Your State created a list called “11 Small Town Family Kitchens In Tennessee That Serve Meals To Die For,” featuring two Williamson County restaurants.

The list covers the entire state and Jack of Hearts BBQ in Spring Hill comes in at #2. “Jack of Hearts is probably one of the most underrated barbecue restaurants in the state. They’re known for their smoked turkey, covered in white gravy, and the ‘Man’s Best Friend,’ a smoked sausage on a bun smothered in sauce, cole slaw, and jalepenos,” says Only in Your State.

But that’s not the only BBQ joint in Williamson County to make the list, Martin’s BBQ in Nolensville, is also featured at #9. The location in Nolensville is the original location for Martin’s as the restaurant continues to grow with new spots to try the famed BBQ.

“The folks at Martin’s BBQ come in every day at 5 a.m. to make the sides and sauces from scratch, but the meat takes longer than 24 hours to cook, so that all happened the day before. They have locations all over Middle Tennessee now, but you have to try the original in Nolensville to get the true experience,” says Only in Your State.

You could easily make it a foodie road trip to try the other down-home cooking spots on the list. See the complete list here and if you’re headed out to Jack of Hearts BBQ, drive a short distance to Pie Sensations in Columbia for dessert (which is #6 on the list).
