Italian Restaurant in Franklin Closes

Trattoria

Trattoria A, an Italian restaurant located in downtown Franklin on West Main Street has closed.

The restaurant opened in November 2016 with seating for only 15 patrons serving homemade pasta prepared daily by Chef Matthew Antonovich. According to Antonovich’s website, it states that Chef Antonovich has cooked at the James Beard House as a participant in the Discovery Series and has prepared meals for five United States Presidents.

Even though the Trattoria Facebook page was updated as of March 14th, the letter we received states the restaurant permanently closed as of March 4th.  Before that date, the Facebook page had been updated to reflect a new direction for the restaurant from an Italian sit-down dinner to a pizzeria operating only on the weekends. The letter doesn’t state the reason for the sudden closure or if there will be a new tenant in the Trattoria location. See the complete letter below.

This letter is to inform our patrons that Trattoria A restaurant and Pizzeria will be closing permanently as of March 4th, 2017. It is our utmost priority to thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you and the local Franklin community. And to inform you about our decision to close the business.

The Trattoria A, LLC and our family want to thank you for voting us our first year as a nominee for “Best New Restaurant” Sizzle Awards 2015 and voting this year for us as a finalist “Best Italian Restaurant” garnishing third place Sizzle Awards 2016.

As an independent restaurant, we have strived to create wonderful and lasting relationships with our guests and business associates and served over 8,000 meals from a one chef kitchen on one stove in a 900 square foot cottage home. Those experiences gave us an opportunity to share a great property located at 1210 W Main in Franklin, TN. Our place shared a great atmosphere with guests to dine with us and to enjoy the company of those special to us. Our guests were the highlight of our business and we want to thank you for patronizing our business.

Special thanks go to the Franklin businesses that supported us during the time we were open and we are grateful for the friends we have made along the way. We are extremely proud of our accomplishments to serve as the local Italian trattoria and gathering place for our community.

Sincerely,
Matthew Antonovich, Proprietor
