Franklin Tomorrow has released the results from their 2013 transportation survey.
The online survey was conducted last year July through September and included 50-plus questions. Almost 1,000 people took the survey–58% of survey participants are residents of the City of Franklin and 42% work in the City.
Survey answers indicate:
- 90% of those who commute into the City do not carpool, due to conflicting schedules
- The highest percentage of residents had two or more cars
- 46% of survey participants have lived in Franklin for more than 10 years
- One-third of survey takers had school-age children
- Many said roadway congestion in Franklin has gotten worse over the past 12 months
- 3/4th of respondents think traffic congestion affects Franklin’s character, reputation and recruiting of new businesses
- Mack Hatcher and any road that crosses it (Royal Oaks, Franklin Rd, Hwy 96, Cool Springs Blvd, Hillsboro Rd, Liberty Pike) are considered some of the most congested roadways.
- The biggest reason people don’t walk or bike is the lack of sidewalks and bikeways
- 87% of respondents said they would use trails and sidewalks if there were more
