Titans Reach Deal with Eric Decker

Jets-NFLStoryHeaderThe Tennessee Titans have agreed on a one- year deal with veteran wide receiver Eric Decker on Sunday, sources confirmed.

Decker, who was cut by New York Jets earlier this month, played in just three games last season due to injuries. In 2015, he caught 80 passes for 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns in his second season with the Jets.

In 2012 and 2013, he also had 1,000-yard receiving seasons for the Denver Broncos. His best season came in 2013 as Decker had 87 catches for 1,288 yards and 11 TDs when the Broncos reached the Super Bowl.

Decker, 30, visited a Titans mini-camp practice last week and watched with General Manager Jon Robinson. The Titans gave him a physical, as the two sides worked toward a deal that was completed on Sunday.

Decker was originally a third-round pick of the Broncos out of the University of Minnesota, where he had been a two-sport athlete, playing both football and baseball for the Golden Gophers.

Decker’s arrival in Tennessee, where he has a home as his wife is country singer Jessie James, gives the Titans another veteran presence in a wide receiver corps that has undergone a serious makeover in the off-season. Of last year’s receivers, only Rishard Matthews, who tied for the team lead with 65 receptions in 2016, would appear to be safely on the 53-man roster.
