Shana Smith, from Thompson’s Station, was crowned Mrs. Tennessee International 2017 Saturday, April 8 at the 2017 Tennessee International Pageant held at the Factory in Franklin. The Tennessee state pageant is a preliminary to the Teen, Miss and Mrs. International Pageant taking place in Charleston, WV this August.

Smith’s husband, Army SFC Grant Smith, placed the crown on her head after several intense areas of competition. The International Pageant system weighs each contestant’s community service into their interview score which is 50% of their overall score. In addition to her personal interview, Mrs. Smith competed in fitness, on-stage platform question and was escorted on stage in her evening gown by her husband.

Through her platform For Every Child, Mrs. Smith will be volunteering with several organizations both in the United States and abroad, including America’s Kids Belong, to support her mission that there are no unadoptable children, only unfound homes. During her journey as a foster parent for the past 11 years she has seen the need for foster families in a very personal way. Having adopted her two children through the foster care system she knows that it’s imperative to grow the foster care and adoptive community to aid in the growing number of children in the system
Shana enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and traveling. Grant and Shana Smith are avid hockey fans in addition to cheering on their children on the soccer field.

In addition to Mrs. Smith’s personal platform, she will support the International Pageants, Inc. platform, the National Heart Association’s Go Red for Women program. The Go Red for Women movement is dedicated to fighting heart disease among women.

The Mrs. International Pageant is owned and operated by International Pageants, Inc., which also operates Miss International and Miss Teen International pageants. It is the only platform-based pageant system dedicated to highlighting women’s accomplishments through community support.

Mrs. Tennessee International will be available throughout the coming year to participate/volunteer at community functions/events, as her calendar permits. To request her presence, please contact Mrs. Smith at [email protected].
