Concord Road

Concord Road, if you have not had the pleasure, has been under construction for the last year or two. The city of Brentwood has undergone a project to widen it to three lanes between Sunset Road and Nolensville road, which, when finished in the fall of this year should ameliorate some of the congestion.

But for now- words can’t capture the tedious horror of rush hour along Concord. Remember the Concorde, the jet that crossed the Atlantic Ocean in record times for commercial flights? The names are not related, and if they were it would be a cruel joke.

TDOT’s most recent traffic volume numbers have some 28,886 cars travelling on it daily east of I-65 and a little more than 20,000 on the west. Of course, plenty of roads handle that kind of volume without causing terrible congestion. But the two-lanes, and the construction make this possibly the the worst road to travel during heavy traffic hours in the county.

Its intersection with Wilson Pike is one of the worst spots, with 29,594 cars crossing it daily.
