Tesla Dealership Coming to Brentwood

by Zachary Harmuth

Tesla Motors, the electric car maker, secured approval from the Brentwood Planning Commission on Monday to open its first dealership in Tennessee.

The green-car company will move in the 12,370 square foot building on the two acre plot at 1641 Westgate Circle, by Moores Lane and I-65, which Five Star Motorcars left vacant when it closed.

“We are happy to have them come to Brentwood, they have an innovative, neat product and we wish them the best,” Kirk Bednar, Brentwood city manager, said.

Tesla’s proposal passed smoothly through the approval process because the lot does not need to be rezoned and, because the company plans to renovate rather than build, there will not be much red tape.

“I think the city made a good choice,” Bednar said.

Details for when the takeover will begin will be announced later.
