Tennessee Soccer Club to Host Annual Tourney This Weekend

Tennessee Soccer ClubTSC under 13s (TSC) will be hosting its annual Battleground Tournament of Champions Friday through Sunday, Sept. 16 – 18 at Crockett Park in Brentwood, and at the Williamson County Soccer Complex (near Arena) on Downs Blvd. in Franklin.

Forty-nine soccer clubs from nine different states will converge on Williamson County to compete, including teams from Atlanta, Knoxville, Memphis, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Birmingham. Boys and girls from 261 teams will be competing, with boy’s teams from U9 through U19 age divisions, and girl’s teams from U9 through U16.

“We provide excellent facilities, great competition, and usually a beautiful weekend of weather to the soccer community,” says Jimmy Drain, TSC’s Tournament Director.

As the second-largest tournament TSC hosts annually, Drain says he began preparing for it last March. “We are bringing in over 140 teams from 100+ miles away, which means we use a lot of hotel rooms,” he says.

The tournament is not only good for soccer; it’s good for the local economy. “We hear that the restaurants in our local area are busy all weekend long because of the tournament — and of course the exposure that it brings to Middle Tennessee and Williamson County is fantastic,” adds Drain. “We also partner with local area attractions like the bowling alleys, movie theaters, etcetera, to provide other opportunities for the kids and families when they are done playing their games.  We love to showcase our growing community.”
