Studio Tenn Offers Summer Education Program for High School Students

Studio Tenn

Studio Tenn announces an all new education program, offering three unique courses for high school students preparing for college auditions. With the help of Nashville professionals, educators, and Broadway talent, students will be able to hone their skills and prepare for any audition situation.

Led by the Internship Coordinator Benji Kern and the Education Associate Casey Hebbel, this intensive, seven-week program marks the first educational program implemented by Studio Tenn.

“It’s important to know one’s self, to know one’s strengths and how to apply those strengths to the industry,” said Kern. “The introduction of this seven-week program allows us to teach students the skills required to be successful in a difficult industry.”

“The Monologue” gives students the tools to choose material that will showcase their individuality and strengths as an actor. Each student will explore various acting techniques, practice detailed character work and participate in a mock audition.

“Song Book” is a course designed to help students choose material best suited for their vocal range and personality. This class will present students with the means to begin building a foundation of audition material. Concluding the course is a mock audition where students will receive feedback from a panel of education and theatre professionals.

“Dance Call” is a course designed to get students accustomed to the high-intensity dance calls they will encounter during the college audition season. Students will spend time practicing technique and exploring different musical theatre dance styles. Each course is tapered to fit the individual needs of students as they begin their journey auditioning for colleges.

“A student can expect to take away a greater understanding of what it’s like to audition at college level,” said Kern. “We want our students to get a sense of what to expect, have professionally approved materials to present and enjoy an educational process while celebrating their talents.”

Each course is $350 for seven weeks of classes, with a 10% discount on any two courses or a 15% discount by purchasing all three. All classes run from 6:30pm – 8:30pm starting July 24-Sept 6. More information can be found at studiotenn.com or by calling Casey Hebbel at (843) 816-1122.
