State Championship Roundup: Softball 5/17

The Brentwood Lady Bruins rolled past district rival Dickson County, 11-1, to claim the Region 6-AAA softball championship on Wednesday.

It was the same score as last week when the Lady Bruins bested Dickson County to win the District 11-AAA title.

The victory means that the lady Bruins will host Region 5-AAA runner-up Mt. Juliet in Friday’s sectional contest for a berth in the state tournament at Spring Fling.

Ansley Casillas slugged a two-run home run for the Lady Bruins in the first inning, and that proved to be all that Brentwood needed. Hannah Koenig got the win on the mound and also added three hits at the plate for the Lady Bruins.

Brentwood scored four times in each of the first two innings to take a comfortable lead on the way to clinching the regional championship.
The Lady Bruins have now won three meetings in a row against Dickson County after losing the first two times they faces off this season. The two clubs have faced each other four times since May 10.
