Spring Hill PD Monitoring Water Tank Graffiti Vandalism

Graffiti

The City of Spring Hill’s new water storage tank being constructed in the Hardin’s Landing neighborhood was recently vandalized with graffiti.

The local water system is one of the community’s most important basic City services and we should all be concerned when it is tampered with. The graffiti will be covered up when the tank is professionally painted.

In the meantime, those participating in this type of vandalism should be aware that the area around the water tank is now being patrolled regularly by the Spring Hill Police Department. The tank site has been added to a security checklist, including use of existing cameras that monitor the area.

Anyone caught vandalizing the water tank will be prosecuted accordingly by the SHPD, including being required to pay restitution for damages.

To avoid future incidents, the SHPD is setting up deterrence measures. The construction of the tank also will include erecting barbed-wire fencing around it to further keep unauthorized personnel off of the property.

The Hardin’s Landing water tank is being constructed to meet the growing city’s demands for water capacity and pressure. The 1.5-million-gallon tank stands about 131 feet high and will add the water storage capacity needed to ensure proper fire safety and drinking water supplies during peak usages. The height of the tank is designed to create the pressure needed to supply water to the hundreds of new homes that have been built in Spring Hill in recent years.
