“Mr. Bivins brings a wealth of experience at the assistant director and director levels for three different state library systems,” said Spring Hill Library Board Chairman Trent Jones. “His passion for local libraries is evident immediately when you talk with him. The Library
Board of Trustees is confident that Mr. Bivins will continue the positive changes made at our library to address current and future needs of the citizens of Spring Hill.”

Mr. Bivins replaces former Library Director Alan Couch, who left the position in May 2015 to become associate director of Public Services for the Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado Springs, Colo.

programs for all ages.

“I am honored by the confidence placed in me by the Board of the Spring Hill Public Library and I am excited about the challenges that the position of library director brings,” Mr. Bivins said. “I am pleased to see the quality and dedication of the library’s present staff. I look
forward to working as a team to both sustain present services and to embrace new services, all which shall be to serve the information, research and enrichment needs of the citizens of Spring Hill.”

Mr. Bivins’ previous work history includes serving as state director of the South Carolina State Library from September 2013-May 2014; state director of the North Dakota State Library from December 2010-September 2013; state assistant director of the Alabama Public Library Service from September 1979-October 2010; division chief for Non-Print Services at the Public Library of Nashville from August 1974-August 1979; assistant reference librarian for Geography, History, Theology and Philosophy at Brown Library at Marshall University in Huntingdon, WV, from September 1972-July 1974. Mr. Bivins’ experience also includes credit for 23 continuing education classes and training courses over the past 35 years.
