Splash Park Project Proposed for Local Rec Center

Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) is looking into the possibility of adding splash park elements adjacent to the Williamson County Franklin Recreation Complex outdoor pool located at 1120 Hillsboro Rd.

WCPR Director Gordon Hampton said, “Splash parks are common amenities in many public recreation systems across the country, but we don’t have one in Williamson County. Patrons have been asking for splash park elements like water cannons, dump buckets, geysers and sprayers for several years. We absolutely need one.”

splash parkThe Franklin Recreation Complex would be a perfect place, adds Hampton. “The Franklin pool opened in 1991, and the time is right for major renovations and additions. It is time to move beyond the traditional and offer new and state-of-the-art aquatics options to our community.”

To fund the project, WCPR is applying for matching grant money from the State of Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. The project concept will be formally presented at a Parks and Recreation Committee meeting on April 5, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Administrative Complex, 1320 West Main St. The public is invited to attend.

WCPR will also be seeking public input about the proposed project on Facebook and other social media outlets. Public comments will be submitted with the grant request. “We know our residents will be excited about a splash park coming to Williamson County, and we look forward to receiving lots of positive input about this exciting project.”

  1. I am so excited for Franklin, however the playground equipment next to the Fairview Recreation Center is very sad and peeling in places. The community out in Fairview would love some upgrades, and a splash park would be amazing!
