Slow Rainy Saturday Start at Franklin Main Street Festival 2013

UPDATE -The rain has given way to a few hours of respite and people are flocking to the Franklin Main Street Festival 2013. Things are getting brighter downtown so come on out and enjoy the festivities while the rain has stopped. This morning Mary Pearce was less than enthusiastic when she informed us that the Main Street Festival was “sort of in full swing,” with only some vendors being open and stages empty. But, right now the crowds are building and things are bustling during the lapse of falling wet stuff.

Most of the rides and stages are still not up and running, but the Main Street stage has entertainment and beer tent is beginning to fill up. Come on out and grab a red poncho from Jack in the Box and have some fun. While you explore with us, tell us what  was your favorite part of today’s festivities.

The weather man was right and a steady down pour is hampering the fun at today’s Franklin Main Street Festival 2013. The barrage of rain and forecast for a half inch of precipitation are keeping a lot of people away from today’s festivities.

Many of the carnival rides are not running, and the kids play area is empty this morning but vendors have braved the elements and set up for you to come down and shop with no waiting. The stages are soaked so it will be difficult for dancers and musicians, if they can perform at all.

We will keep you posted if things get better later in the day. Here are a few photos from this morning.
