How Shopping & Eating Changed at The Factory in 2015

In July, we wrote about the many changes taking place at The Factory at Franklin and how it is becoming a new place for artists, shoppers and those looking to be entertained. For example, Music City Roots & Studio Tenn moved to The Factory in 2014. Honest Coffee Roasters opened in the spring of 2015 followed by Five Daughters Bakery in November.

We are looking forward to new things in 2016. MAFIAoZA’S is well under construction and set to open early in 2016 and we hear there are a couple of other new places on the horizon but don’t have any news to share yet.  Keep checking back here for the latest updates.

SaffireSaffire -After 13 years of operations, Tom Morales’ first restaurant in the TomKats Hospitality family, Saffire Restaurant temporarily closed to accommodate a renovation, and reopened on Tuesday, June 30 with a new back of house and a new menu.  Read the full story here.

Five Daughters BakeryFive Daughters Bakery-Named appropriately after owner, Isaac Meek’s five daughters, who can often be found helping customers, Five Daughters Bakery opened in November. Known for their 100 layer donuts, the line on Saturday morning for these delectable treats will often start before the bakery opens at 9am.

relekRelek -Opening in August of 2014, Kristin Gatlin Spencer,daughter of Larry Gatlin opened her space on Artist Row which quickly became too small, outgrowing the space.  Now Relek has its own store front across from Third Coast Clay. Learn more about Relek in our interview with Kristin here.

Honest Coffee RoastersHonest Coffee Roasters -What was missing at The Factory?  A great coffee shop and Honest Coffee Roasters fits the bill.  Named after the 16th President Honest Abe, its one of only locations in Franklin where you can see how the coffee you drink is being roasted. Lucky ScruffLucky Scruff -With Duck Dynasty making beards a mainstay or is it a hipster trend?  Either way, Lucky Scruff opened on Halloween making it a destination for the bearded brethren. Read more about Lucky Scruff here.

Jeni's Ice Cream at The FactoryJeni’s Ice Cream truck -A Christmas gift was delivered to Williamson County when the Jeni’s Ice Cream Truck rolled into The Factory. Serving up scoops of all your favorites everyday inside The Factory.

city farmhouse logoCity Farmhouse -First using The Factory as its Fling show location and then later moving into The Factory. City Farmhouse also brought its Holiday Show featuring Sheryl Crow to The Factory.  Read more here.

House of BelongingThe House of Belonging -first debuted at The Factory during the City Farmhouse Holiday pop-up show while they opened their space on Artist Row the same weekend.  A family owned business with hand designed sayings on canvas, these pieces of art are certain to inspire and motivate.

Luna Record StoreLuna Records -If you have ever longed for the days of record store, look no further than Luna Records. Luna describes itself as a “vinyl lifestyle” retail shop, selling new and used vinyl records along with music inspired gifts. The store is co-owned by two sisters, Calvert Gentry McMahan and Brenna Gentry. The sisters are fourth generation Franklin natives, who decided to fulfill a long time dream of opening and running a store together after collectively spending 15 plus years working in retail and having a passion for bringing their joy of music shopping to life.

CR-71CR-71 – Titans kicker who turned picker brought a unique type of shopping to The Factory. With found pieces and collective objects, it’s the place to find something from the roads less traveled.  Owned by Craig and Rick. Craig Hentrich and Rick Dohler joined forces recently after mutual friends connected them due to their common interests. Rick, a General Contractor, was making custom furniture from picked items and reclaimed wood. Craig Hentrich, a retired punter from the Tennessee Titans, had begun turning his picking hobby into a profession. Read more about CR-71 here.
