The search continues for Elizabeth Thomas, a 15-year-old from Maury County, TN. Tuesday, an Amber Alert was issued.
She is white, blonde/strawberry blonde hair, hazel eyes, 5’5” and 120 pounds, last seen wearing a flannel shirt and black leggings. She may have been in the area of Decatur, Alabama.
Thomas is believed to be in the company of 50-year old Tad Cummins, white male, 6’0”, 200 pounds, brown hair and eyes. He is believed to be armed with two handguns and driving a Silver Nissan Rogue, TN tag, 976ZPT.
Multiple news outlets report that Cummins is a former Maury County teacher and that he was suspended last month due to a sheriff’s department investigation. A warrant has been issued for Cummins for Sexual Contact with a Minor. Officials said the charge stems from an incident that occurred at school between Thomas and Cummins, reports WSMV.
The Maury County Public School District issued this statement about the situation:
“Maury County Public Schools suspended the Culleoka Unit School teacher involved in the law enforcement investigation once we were notified of the allegations. Since then, the teacher has been dismissed as a result of the investigation. The district does not tolerate any manner of behavior that is alleged in this incident and will take swift action to remove parties from school campuses who are involved with investigations of this type.”
