Runners Defy the Rain and Triumph at the Country Music Marathon 2013

UPDATE – Our featured runners did well today. David Haywood finished the half-marathon with his team in an unofficial time of 1:56:58 averaging an 8:34 mile. Becca Oberlander finished her first full marathon under grueling conditions with a fantastic time of 4:32:56 averaging a 10.26 minute pace.

Fleet Feet Sports has been happy with the success of their runners today with 70 percent of them being women and 30 percent men, nearly 250 runners trained to tackle today’s race. Fleet Feet Marketing Director Tammy Sanders was on the course with a bullhorn cheering on her friends.

On Monday, April 29th Fleet Feet and local business have united to help those injured in the tragedy in Boston as 100 percent of their proceeds will go to the fund helping a trio of athletes that the Amputee Blade Runners will help get a running leg for! The are also selling t-shirts for the cause at only $20 each. Stop in and get yours Monday. Check out the Flyer for Boston’s Injured too.

Fleet Feet Sports has trained runners for months to tackle the Country Music Marathon 2013 and it paid off today. A steady down pour of rain did not dampen the spirits of David Haywood and Becca Oberlander who ran this morning in conditions they had not foreseen.

Check out what they had to say and enjoy some footage of today’s race covered by your Williamson Source.
