Retail Conglomerate May Close Hundreds of Women’s Clothing Stores

As shopping online continues to be a preferred method of shopping by many, Ascena Retail Group has proposed to close as many as 650 of its stores, which include Ann Taylor, dressbarn, Lane Bryant, Maurices, Justice, Loft, Lou & Grey and Catherines, reports Consumerist.

The locations of the stores to close has not been revealed but there are several Ascena Retail Group brand stores located in Williamson County.

Ann Taylor – located inside the CoolSprings Galleria

Maurices – located at The Crossing of Spring Hill (Maury County)

Lane Bryant – located in CoolSprings Market

CEO David Jaffe told investors on a call that the company has put in place a plan intended to combat the slumping retail environment and cut costs by $250 million to $300 million by 2019, continued Consumerist. 

The plan will begin in July 2017, in which 250 stores will close.
