Ravenwood quarterback Brian Garcia threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score, as the Raptors came from behind to hand Cane Ridge its first loss in a 43-36 road win in the second round of the TSSAA 6A state playoffs on Friday.

Garcia hit Andrew Mason with a 12-yard touchdown pass with five second left, providing the winning points. That came just after Cane Ridge tied the game with 1:10 to play.

Running back William Baine rushed nine times for 76 yards and caught three balls for 135 and a score for Ravenwood (10-2), which will travel to rival Brentwood (10-2) next Friday.

Garcia was 10 of 19 for 209 yards, and ran 10 times for 26 more. Tony Rice added 17 carries for 107 yards for Ravenwood.

The second half was a shootout.

Ravenwood trailed by 15 late in the third, but Garcia hit Mason for one of his three touchdown catches. After Luke Akers hit the point-after, Garcia found Baine for a 92-yard scoring pass, then connected with Anthony Holmes on the 2-point conversion.

Then, Holmes caught a 17-yard touchdown from Garcia with 7:16 left, and the Raptors took the lead for the first time since the first quarter.

Eighteen seconds later, Cane Ridge tied the game on Jacquez Norman’s TD catch and an Erick Ramirez point-after.

Garcia had a 3-yard rushing score with 4:00 to play, the Akers point-after providing a 36-29 lead.

Cane Ridge (11-1) led 16-7 at half.

Ravenwood opened the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Garcia to Mason. Cane Ridge’s Devon Starling (24 carries, 159 yards) answered with a pair of scoring runs, and Ramirez added a 23-yard field goal.

Brentwood won the first matchup by a 31-28 score on Sept. 14 in the rivalry known as “The Battle of the Woods.” That avenged Ravenwood’s victory the season before, after Brentwood had won in 2016.
