I said it all year, the Ravenwood Raptors were the team to beat in GNASH. They proved it Monday night, beating Montgomery Bell Academy 3-1 to win the Preds Cup at Ford Ice Center in Hickory Hollow.

Ravenwood 2 1 0 3
MBA 0 0 1 1

Ravenwood shot out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and after two led 3-0. At the start of the third period it was clear with the Raptor defense playing so well, led by Morgan Wang, Dylan Moulton Christian Keczmer and Clay Lamb, that MBA wasn’t coming back.

Big Red scored a consolation goal with less than 3 minutes left in the game

In this writer’s humble opinion, the Preds Cup most valuable player had to be Ravenwood goalie Ito Thomas. He had at least three  huge saves, and for all of the game that mattered on Monday night he pitched a shut out. He was a wall, much like he has been all year- averaging 1.66 goals against in the regular season and 1.41 in the playoffs.

Jake Walker, who entered the night tied for the team lead in postseason points, scored the Raptors final goal of the season.

The win makes Ravenwood the first-ever four time Preds Cup champion.

GNASH still has its all-star game at Ford Ice on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and its Senior Game on Friday at 6 p.m. also at Ford.
