PorchFest Lines up Local and Regional Music Talent

Westhaven’s Porchfest is returning Saturday for it’s 3rd year in a row, and with 75 performers from local and regional musical acts playing on more than 20 porches, plus the addition of arts and crafts showcases throughout the day, this event in Franklin will have a little entertainment for everyone. And it’s free!

Performances will begin at 4:00pm, and this year’s media sponsor,Lighting 100, will be onsite broadcasting live from Westhaven’s Town Center from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  Raven Cliff will be closing out the evening with a lakeside concert beginning at 8:00pm. Last year, over 3,000 people attended PorchFest.

Here’s some info on a couple of the artists playing at PorchFest:

Cotton Wine – Born from Folk & Americana roots, Brandon James and Femke create an irresistible combination. A duo from Toronto and Holland, respectively, Cotton Wine handles their own writing, engineering, producing and promoting their own songs. James and Femke bring a multi-instrumental skill set with James’ ability to play guitar, piano, mandolin, and percussion; while Femke plays accordion, piano, guitar, ukulele, banjo, bass, and drums / percussion.

After a year of touring, they successfully released their self-titled album, featuring their single “Corn In A Cotton Field.”  For more information on Cotton Wine, visit www.cottonwine.com.

That’s My Kid – Now entering their second year together, That’s My Kid is a rock and roll band whose focus is on all things that groove. Forrest Arnold and Abraham Fongnaly met years ago in middle school in Murfreesboro and began impromptu jam sessions and eventually added bassist Jashuan Smith to the mix. Last April, they released their first album, The One, then followed it up with the release of The Dark Horse Sessions, recorded in nearby Franklin, Tennessee.
