Martha Ann McGowan of Franklin, TN, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Preceded in passing by her father, Cecil Gibson; her mother, Mary Lee Gibson; and her brother, James A. Gibson.
Survived by her husband, Bob; her daughter, Teresa Beard (Doug); her granddaughters, Dianne Vallier (Barry) and Caroline Beard (Burke Colquhoun); her great-grandchildren, Grayson and Elliott Vallier; her sister, Mary Jo Cooke (Charles); her brother, Cecil R. Gibson; and her sister-in-law, Gayle Gibson.
Mrs. McGowan retired after years of being an educator and was successful in her second career as a floral designer at Brentwood Flower Shop. She was avid bridge player and loved and cherished her granddaughters and their families. She was a long-time member of Brentwood United Methodist Church and belonged to the Robert I. Moore Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be held at Brentwood United Methodist Church on Friday, March 3, 2017, from ten-thirty to eleven-thirty in the morning, with Celebration of Life to follow at eleven-thirty. Members of the Robert I. Moore Sunday School Class to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in her honor to the BUMC Foundation Scholarship and/or the Easter Seals of TN for post-polio victims.
