Nashville Veterinarian Selected to Inaugural Leadership Academy

Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association and Elanco Animal Health have teamed up to offer the Power of Ten Leadership Academy (POTL), a program for young veterinarians to develop leadership skills. Ten veterinarians who graduated from veterinary college within the past 10 years have been selected to participate in the inaugural program, including Franklin resident Cam Hornsby, DVM, who works at Nashville Pet Emergency Clinic, Nashville. The program will conclude in February, 2015, during the Music City Veterinary Conference.

 

Participants in the program are:

  • Al Claiborne, DVM, Animal Medical Center of Greenville, Greeneville;
  • Caroline Glyn Ervin, DVM, Southern Veterinary Center, Smyrna;
  • Eva Evans, DVM, Rivergate Pet Emergency Clinic, Goodlettsville;
  • Alisa Gilliam, DVM, Maury County Veterinary Hospital, Columbia;
  • Cam Hornsby, DVM, Nashville Pet Emergency Clinic, Nashville;
  • Jeremy Keen, DVM, Jackson Animal Clinic, Jackson;
  • Matthew Lane, DVM, Belle Meade Animal Hospital, Nashville;
  • Ian O’Connor, DVM, Morristown Animal Hospital, Morristown;
  • Christopher Ray, DVM, Hermitage Animal Clinic, Hermitage.

 

The POTL is led by Allison Fields, DVM, with Volunteer Veterinary Clinic in Hendersonville.  Programs over the next several months will include professional and personal development to benefit the participants as well as their practice, community, profession, and the Association.  Sessions will include personality assessments, communication techniques, time management, financial management, legal issues, regulatory requirements, advocacy, and organized veterinary medicine.
