The Tennessee State Soccer Association announced that members of the Tennessee Soccer Club’s U18 girls team are 2017 Hall of Fame honorees.
The announcement came on Tuesday in an awards and recognition ceremony at Soulshine Pizza Factory in Franklin, as TSSA celebrated the team’s USYSA National Championship run from this past July. The ceremony was delayed until this week as many of the players left for college soon after the National Championship.
Those being inducted are:
Callie McKinney, Cameron Williams, Catherine Myer, Danielle Marcano, Emily Zipay, Grace Parsons, Jess Harvey, Jordan Chawan, Julie Garst, Karlie Paschall, Mackenzie Firek, Mackenzie Peebles, Madison Falter, Madison Louk, Melia Correa, Melody Fisher, Olivia Doak, Peyton Depriest, Sydney Hunt, Sydney Malham, Sydney Webber.
The team is the most decorated in TSSA history, male or female, and delivered the first ever Division I youth soccer National Championship to Tennessee.
This will be the first team inducted into the Tennessee Soccer Hall of Fame. The TSSA Board of Directors voted unanimously to induct the team for their accomplishment this past summer, making sure the team will have a historical spot in the sport.
“Without question this has been a special group of players,” TSSA Executive Director Hans Hobson said. “The level of play they exhibited, along with their overall dedication to holding themselves to a high standard of sportsmanship, makes this a very unique group. There have been hundreds of deserving teams and players over the years in Tennessee, but this team separated themselves from the pack with the National Championship this past summer.”
Their coach, Ronnie Woodard, recently was named Region III Girls Coach of the Year and NSCAA National Girls Coach of the Year.
“The countless hours of commitment and sacrifice that each of these girls made to this team was remarkable,” Woodard said. “I am so proud that they achieved the greatest goal in youth soccer: winning a National Championship. I am thrilled TSSA would honor the players and staff by inducting us into the Tennessee Soccer Hall of Fame.”
Woodard also is up for US Youth Soccer Girls National Coach of the Year. That winner will be announced at the USYSA Awards Banquet in Los Angeles in January.
Members of the team will officially be inducted during the TSSA Annual General Meeting in Nashville in late January.
