During a prisoner transport, two Georgia inmates overpowered two guards, took their guns, killed them, hijacked a car and have been on the run since Tuesday morning.

The two men are Donnie Russell Rowe, 43, from Middle Tennessee, and Ricky Dubose, 24, of Madison, Georgia. Both were in prison for armed robbery. While the transport bus, carrying the two prisoners and others, was traveling on Georgia State Route 16 between Eatonton and Sparta in Putnam County, Georgia, Row and Dubose overpowered their guards just before 7 a.m., reports ABC News.

Rowe and Dubose got past a protective gate, overpowered and took the guns of officers Chris Monica and Curtis Billue, and killed them both. Both escapees were incarcerated at Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, Georgia. Rowe had been there since 2002 serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for armed robbery and other offenses. Dubose had been in prison since July 2015 serving a 20-year term for armed robbery.

Thirty-one other inmates were on board the bus, which was heading to a diagnostic facility at the time the escape took place, and have provided assistance to investigators, officials said.

The escapees were described by Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills as “dangerous beyond description.”

Rowe and Dubose, using the slain guards’ .40 caliber Glock pistols, stole a Honda Civic from a person driving by and fled west. They are also suspected in a 2 p.m. residential burglary, in which clothes and food were stolen.

Dubose is described as a white man with blue eyes and brown hair, standing at 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds.

Rowe is described as a white man with blue eyes and brown hair, standing at 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighing 181 pounds.

The stolen car is described as a green 2004 Honda Civic with Georgia license plate RBJ6601.
