Meet the 6 District 4 Williamson County School Board Candidates

Tonight, Monday, Sept 14th, the County Commission will vote to fill District 4’s interim school board position on the Williamson County Board of Education. Following Laurie Cardoza-Moore’s withdrawal late last week, 6 candidates remain for the WCSB seat. Learn more about the 6 candidates below. The County Commission meeting begins at 7:00 PM at the Williamson County Administrative Complex.

Chirs KoczajaChris Koczaja

Koczaja has stated that his primary goal in seeking the board seat is to act as an objective presence and apply logical, effective strategies based on expert opinions to help move school system forward in the coming months. After Laurie Cardoza-Moore’s withdrawal from consideration, Koczaja received the endorsement of District 4 County Commissioners Gregg Lawrence and Kathy Danner. Koczaja does not plan to run in the general election for the position in 2016.

Anne McgrawAnne McGraw

The mother of two Trinity Elementary students, McGraw has stated that if chosen as a board member, she would seek to learn as much as possible from every available source to best serve the needs of the district and school system without getting wrapped up in the politics of the position. She would, however, plan to run in 2016 if appointed to the interim position.

AdamsGarry Adams

A retired school principal with 38 years of experience in education, Adams has a Master’s degree in school administration and has stated active presence, involvement, and communication with parents and students is needed to best understand the needs of the school system. He plans to run in 2016 if appointed to the interim seat.

Joey CzarneskiJoey Czarneski

Czarneski is a decade-long Williamson County resident with a background as a development manager and director of performance. Czarneski said if chosen for the position, he would look at the long-term needs of both the school system and the county to ensure the board’s actions are in the best interests of students and the community, and that plans follow logic, legality, and are economically sound.

Jane McGrathJane McGrath

McGrath cites her experiences as a special education teacher, school volunteer, PTO president, and parent as evidence of her lasting commitment and vested interest in the well-being of students and schools. She plans to run in 2016 to keep the District 4 school board seat if appointed to the interim position.

Harold SmithHarold Smith

Smith is a 30-year resident of Williamson County. He has referenced his belief in Christian values and opposition to Common Core as issues of importance. Smith has stated that education is “vital to a healthy society.” He does not plan to run in 2016 if appointed.
