Martin Methodist College Executive Director of Athletics Jeff Bain has officially announced the hire of Bob Learn, Jr. as the next head coach of the RedHawk Men and Women’s Bowling programs.
Learn emerged as the top candidate amongst over a dozen top candidates and was ultimately chosen due to his versatile skillset and professional background.
Learn, an Erie, Pennsylvania native, boasts over 25 years of coaching experience but is perhaps best known for his nearly 40-year professional bowling career.
During his career, Learn has won five Professional Bowling Association tournaments, including the 1999 U.S. Open. Learn was the recipient of the 1996 ESPY award and he rolled just the 10th ever televised 300 game in the opening match of the final round at the PBA Flagship Open; where he earned the nickname “Mr. 300.”
Learn created the TurboTech Collegiate Expo, which he designed specifically for college recruitment. Most recently, he conducted numerous bowling clinics around the world and has been a past coach for Team USA.
Learn holds numerous USBC certifications and is expected to continue to improve a Redhawk Bowling program that ranked among the best in the Mid-South Conference and the NAIA the last few seasons.

When we looked to who can carry our bowling program to the next level, there was only one on our radar: it was Bob Learn, Jr. I look forward to introducing Bob, and his wife Stacey, to our RedHawk family.”
“I have had the privilege to compete for over 35 years at the elite level of our sport,” Learn said. “I have also coached at the highest level which includes working with other top professionals and Team USA. Having attended several college tournaments in the past, I really enjoyed the atmosphere that I saw at the collegiate level of competition. I am very honored to have an opportunity to be the head coach at Martin Methodist and am excited for the challenges that this position brings. I am very fortunate to have a solid program already in place and to have the necessary support in moving this program forward.”
Bob is married to his wife Stacey and they have two children, Brandon and Brittany.
