Martin Methodist College To Open Campus in Spring Hill

The City of Spring Hill’s Communications Officer Jamie Page confirmed that Martin Methodist College will in fact be opening a satellite campus at the Northfield Center in Spring Hill.

“Martin Methodist College, of Pulaski, is working toward a contract to lease space this year at the Northfield Workforce Development & Conference Center in Spring Hill, which would be its first satellite site,” said Spring Hill Communications Officer Jamie Page.

Other colleges also are expected to offer classes at Northfield. Those will be announced later, Mayor Rick Graham said.

Mayor Graham and South Central Tennessee Workforce Alliance Executive Director Jan McKeel have been in discussions about this arrangement for more than a year.

This will enable local residents to now earn a 4 year college degree close to home. There is no official date set for the opening of the new campus.

“The ability to earn a four-year college degree here in Spring Hill is a big deal,” Mayor Graham said. “For one thing, Spring Hill is growing its job base and this will help ensure our residents have a place to become trained and educated to fill those jobs. Having this available to our citizens also will give us high marks among perspective businesses that consider the availability of higher education among the communities where they are looking to potentially locate their facility. It could be a factor in landing a corporate headquarters.”

At this time, students can get college and vocational programming at Northfield through Columbia State Community College and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Hohenwald and Pulaski. Through Martin Methodist’s agreement with CSCC, students earning a two-year CSCC degree can earn a bachelor’s degree through Martin Methodist. That direction will be even easier with Martin Methodist’s new Northfield campus, which will allow Maury County area students to avoid driving to Pulaski to continue their studies.

Founded in 1870, Martin Methodist College is a four-year liberal arts college related to the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church. The historic campus is located in Pulaski, Tennessee.
