On Tuesday evening, People magazine declared Blake Shelton the 2017 Sexiest Man Alive. Shelton joins the ranks of Dwayne Johnson, David Beckham, Chris Hemsworth, and his fellow “The Voice” coach Adam Levine, who placed on the list back in 2013.

After hearing the news, Shelton told People magazine, “Y’all must be running out of people,” he tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story. “Like, wow, we’re down to somebody who is somewhat symmetrical.”

During a press conference in Nashville on Tuesday evening for the CMA Country Christmas, fellow country music star, Luke Bryan had this to say about Shelton,“I’m speechless,” Luke said. “He’s taken so many things from me, and now this. Who in the hell is choosing this? Am I being punked? And we’re sure that ya’ll didn’t Photoshop my face over his face and change the names out…. I guess we’re all stuck with it,” reported Sounds Like Nashville.

Also in attendance was Brett Eldredge, who weighed in by saying, “He’s just Blake: He’s honest, he’s real, he’s unapologetically himself. He’s as real as he is on ‘The Voice’ or onstage — if you see him, he’s the same offstage as well, and I think that makes somebody more charming, honesty and being who you are … He’s doing it right, and we love him for it.”
