Local Suburban Homeowner Found Growing Marijuana

The Spring Hill Police Department arrested a woman on charges of manufacturing and disturbing marijuana, as well as possession of firearms and drug paraphernalia.

The 64-year-old woman, Deborah Savino, was living at 2861 Sutherland Drive in Thompson’s Station. Upon searching her home, police found a large quantity of marijuana, other various narcotics, firearms and roughly $17,400 in cash.

The arrest came earlier this week, on Tuesday, Oct. 11, after police responded to a report of a possible fire in the area along with the Spring Hill Fire Department due to recent concerns about arsons in the area.

Upon arrival, according to a news release, an officer smelled smoke coming from Savino’s home. The officer said he detected the smell of both burnt and fresh marijuana.

When questioned by officers about the smell of marijuana, police say Savino produced a box of fresh-cut marijuana and officers also observed the presence of marijuana plants. According to police, she had just finished cutting the marijuana from the plant and disposing of the stalks in her burn pit.

Savino was taken into custody and is charged with manufacturing and distribution of a Schedule VI narcotic, possession of a firearm during a felony offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to Williamson County Jail and given a bond of $40,000.

  1. Unfortunate. If she lived in a state where marijuana was legal there would be no incentive to deal illegally.
