Local Band Bishop Gunn Will Join Slash on European Tour

Bishop Gunn

Bishop Gunn, of Leiper’s Fork, has confirmed their first European tour, opening select dates for Slash in 2019. The shows will follow the band’s current tour with Whiskey Myers, as well as performances with The Marcus King Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Blackberry Smoke.

The band’s debut album Natchez, named after their hometown in Mississippi, has received several accolades after holding a hometown listening party at the Franklin Theatre.

  • Billboard Blues Chart at #4
  • Heatseekers South Central Chart at #8.
  • The record recently broke one million streams

Recently, they released a music video for “Alabama” which was filmed entirely in Leiper’s Fork and directed by Tyler Barksdale. It features comedian Theo Von and was co-written by lead singer Travis McCready and Ben Lewis, and Nicolette Hayford. Watch it here.

And while the soulful Southern Rock band is busy touring the country, they will hold a local concert in Nashville at 3rd and Lindsley on November 10 with the Georgia Thunderbolts. Buy your tickets online here.

Bishop Gunn is Travis McCready (vocals), Burne Sharp (drums), Drew Smithers (guitar) and Ben Lewis (bass). McCready and Sharpe connected at the big annual festival in Natchez. Later they added members and Bishop Gunn’s current lineup stuck shortly thereafter. Now, the band members live together, write and have set up a home studio in a farmhouse just outside Leiper’s Fork. They rehearse at a repurposed grocery store in the area.
