Laura Chavarria, Director of WCACAC, is a Hometown Hero

Laura Chavarria was named Director of Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center in June of 2013 and in a very short period of time she has improved the adoption experience with a remodel of the front office area, lobby TV monitors, skylights and an improvement in general shelter cleanliness.

Chavarria has implemented several successful monthly adoption campaigns like Summer of Love, the 31 Days of October, and Home for the Holidays, hoping to capture the attention of the local community.  She is also a passionate advocate for pit bulls, volunteering her time to help educate the public about the history and temperament of the American Pit Bull Terrier and Bully mixes.

A highly visible presence during daily shelter operations, Chavarria oversees a staff of 10, and handles the care of over 4,000 animals that pass through the shelter each year. Laura Chavarria is to be commended for making so many positive contributions in such a short time.”

Because of her dedication and the incredible difference she has made in such a short time, Chavarria is being honored as the Darrell Waltrip Automotive Hometown Hero for the month of December.

“We are so excited to have Laura Chavarria on staff as our Animal Control and Adoption Center Director,” said Rogers Anderson, Williamson County Mayor.   “Her level of enthusiasm is contagious and she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise which will continue to make our facility the best in the state.   Laura takes great pride and ownership in each of the shelter animals and diligently reaches out to the community scheduling adoption days to ensure each of the animals find loving homes.”

“I am looking forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Williamson County,” Chavarria stated, “and will endeavor to continue to provide high-quality programs and services to our community. I have many dreams and visions for the shelter, and I am looking forward to carrying them out.”

As a part of her award a $500 donation was made to the Williamson County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center.
