By WCS InFocus

The last of three meetings to discuss the starting times at elementary, middle and high schools is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Middle School, 7200 Cumberland Dr, Fairview, TN 37062.

Williamson County Schools is seeking public input as it researches the benefits and practical implications of making changes to school start and end times.

The community meeting is to discuss the pros and cons of adjusting school start times.

Following the meeting, surveys will be administered to parents, high school students, school personnel and the business community in order to gauge interest in possible changes.

School personnel have been reviewing scholarly research on school start and end times and have also partnered with Hanover Research to look into this topic and see how other school districts are handling this issue.

The accompanying video is intended to outline Williamson County Schools’ findings so far and to frame the questions the community will need to discuss before making a decision.
