And the winner is… Boneset & Spruce will be the name of the signature cocktail served at the Heritage Ball to be held on Saturday, September 20th, 2014.
Jon Yeager of PourTaste ( who also created Gray’s on Main cocktail menu) created the signature drink, called Boneset & Spruce , finding inspiration from a cocktail recipe book called ” The Young Housekeeper’s Friend” published in 1863.
In the book, it contains a traditional drink recipe that calls for spruce and boneset beer, which would often be accompanied by rum or brandy. Yeager’s adaption of the recipe calls for molasses, lemon, essence of spruce, boneset root bitters, brandy, rum and mint creating a dark, earthly drink resembling the color of cola.
