Jack in the Box Playoff Round-up: Franklin v. Centennial

It’s that time, the time when Fall comes to an end and the Road to the Blue Cross Bowl begins! We start with our Jack in the Box Game of the Week :

Franklin v. Centennial Part Deux: Our Jack in the Box GOTW picked up where we left off last week, except for on the other side of the city. After a disappointing 37-34 loss in the regular season finale at home, Coach Rector packed up his Cougar team and headed across town to Franklin. And again it was another classic in the rivalry that will be talked about for the years to come.

  • It all started in the first quarter when Franklin’s fumble was recovered by Tumas Williams of the Cougars. This led to Emmanuel Hall finding the end zone and giving the Cougar Nation a 7-0 lead. The Cougars would hold this lead thru the 1Q.
  • The second quarter saw Garrison Matthews get the Rebels on the board to tie it up at 7. A botched fake FG by Centennial would give the Rebels the ball back. The usually steady Rebel QB Critchlow makes a crucial mistake and the Cougar’s Trent McDermott scores to make it 14-7 Centennial at the half.
  • Centennial came out swinging in the second half as Tyrel Dodson scored for the Cougars and made it 21-7 Cougars. But the Rebels wouldn’t quit and soon after it was the Rebels Luke Hill with the grab and the TD to make it 21-14. A Rebel FG after a Mike Gonzalez interception would take us into the final quarter with a 21-17 Cougar lead.
  • Emmanuel Hall scored his second for the Cougars in the fourth quarter making it a 28-17 lead for the Cougars. The Rebels fought back with a Critchlow to Milam pass. The 2 point conversion failed. After a couple of more scares from the Rebels, there just wasn’t enough time as Centennial intercepted the ball with about a minute left and Centennial wins 28-23.

Centennial will take on Hendersonville at Hendersonville next Friday night. For a breakdown of the other results from last night’s games click here. Watch Monday morning for a look at next week’s matchups.
