The Islamic Center of Williamson County has purchased 1.24 acres of property at 320 Mallory Station road for $1.53 million.
The ICWC currently operates out of a strip mall on Carothers Parkway in Brentwood. The ICWC tried to build a prayer hall and fellowship facility on Wilson Pike in Brentwood in 2010, but the plans were defeated.
The building on Mallory Station Rd is 8,400 sq. ft. and was once home to a scuba store and swimming school. The building will become home to a prayer hall, community hall, small kitchen, prayer areas and class areas.
“There has been a substantial growth in the size of our community, worshippers attending daily prayers and children enrolled in the Sunday classes. A recent survey to the community proved the need for a larger permanent central facility in the neighborhood that would meet the needs of our Muslim community in Williamson County and nearby areas,” states a Jan. 30 post on the ICWC website.
