Sarah Darling is a Middle Tennessee treasure, a Williamson County resident, country singer and entrepreneur. She had everybody watching The new ABC series Rising Star in hopes she would continue to succeed and further pursue her career as a country music starlet. To her credit, she has over 1.4 million downloaded songs on iTunes, 60 plus appearances on The Grand Ole Opry, a new line of Signature Series Durango boots to be released just in time for fall, an extensive touring schedule and her own line of French Pastries via Sweet Darling Patisserie. I had the opportunity to speak with her and see what her bright future holds

WS: You had a great run on Rising Star, what’s next for you?
SD: Basically I am getting ready to make a new record. Before Rising Star, I had been writing pretty non stop and just getting ready to go into the studio and got whisked away to do the show which was an awesome experience and I feel like I have doubled the fans I had before, and now I am just in that creative process of selecting the right songs and, later this month, I am actually going to start the recording process.

WS: Could you tell us some more about your partnership with Durango Boots and your new collection?
SD: I actually have worked with Durango for the last seven years, I have always signed autographs for them at CMA Fest and last year they asked if I would model some of their cowboy boots for some of their ads that they took out in some pretty big magazines and I said yes of course. This year, I approached them on designing a cowboy boot together and they said yes which was really awesome. It was just supposed to be one pair of cowboy boots but it turned into several and I made a whole line with them. It was very cool and they come out in October and I am so excited. They are so fun and I got to design the boots from the ground up and it was a really great experience.

WS: Let’s discuss your connections with Williamson County; you call it home correct?
SD: When I first moved to Tennessee, I lived in Williamson County. I actually worked at Stoney River believe it or not. I have now moved to the Brentwood area with my husband, and I love Williamson County and Franklin is one of the most sweetest towns on the planet.

WS: You have been on the Grand Ole Opry stage 60 plus times, does it feel the same every time or do you still get excited and nervous?
SD: You know what, it is such an honor to be there every single time, and for me I never take it for granted. I feel like every time I actually get to walk into the building it feels really special. It is magic every time I get to play there

WS: Are you getting ready to tour after the album is complete?
SD: I am actually playing quite a bit here and there. I am playing shows and then I also have a business on the side with my husband called Sweet Darling where I make French Macaroons, so I am kind of busy doing a million different things at once
