UPDATED 9:43 a.m.:

According to WKRN an Independence High School teacher has resigned amid allegations he showed a picture of a topless female to one of his classes.

Keith Steffens was first suspended on Feb. 6 when Williamson County Schools informed him he was under investigation for allegations that he engaged in inappropriate behavior.

According to a letter of suspension issued by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mike Looney, Steffens was suspended without pay.

The letter said:

“Upon completion of the investigation, you will be notified of any further employment action that may be necessary or informed of a return to work date if cleared of the charge. You will be expected to make a written statement describing the circumstances surrounding this incident. You are not to return to your work site or other WCS location until this case is resolved unless requested to meet with management personnel.”

Steffens resigned from the school system the following day.

Williamson Source will update this article as more information is gathered.

  1. My son has been in his class for the past couple of years and informed me that the lady in the picture had on a bikini. The teacher also has a photography business to supplement his income and some how one of the pictures from a photo shoot got mixed into his school assignments. This was purely done by accident. Keith Steffens is a fantastic teacher and wonderful man and IHS has lost one of it’s BEST educators because of this little mix up.
Seriously, the kids could see much more skin in a National Geographic magazine. I really wish some people would grow some thick skin. If they were offended by a female in a bathing suit then Lord help them when they graduate and have to face the real world.
