They started a little slow, but once the Independence Eagles got rolling there was no way the LaVergne Wolverines could deny them their 25th win in a row.

The Eagles (10-0. 7-0) pulled away from the Wolverines (3-7, 3-4) in the second half for a regular-season ending 56-19 win.

LaVergne held a 12-7 lead halfway through the second quarter, but in just over six minutes to finish the first half, Indy scored 21-straight points to take a 28-12 lead at the break.

The Eagles came out of halftime fast, outscoring the Wolverines 28-7 to pull away in the second half.

The win gives Indy its second straight undefeated regular season. It’s the defending Class 5A state champion’s 25th win in a row.

The Eagles shined offensively in the last five games of the regular season. They never scored under 41 points, averaging 52 per game during that span.

Independence will host Region 6-5A’s #4 seed Gallatin (6-4) in the first round of the playoffs next Friday.

The Green Wave head into the playoffs riding back-to-back losses to region runner up Hillsboro and region champion Cane Ridge.
