Franklin Floodway

In updating Franklin’s floodway, the city has a created a new map for residents to find out where their house falls.

In accordance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Franklin has to redraw flood lines every 10 years.

“The fringe flood overlay and the floodway overlay are going to reflect map revisions approved by FEMA as soon as we adopt this,” planner James Svobda said.

All of the changes will have go to before the Franklin Municipal Planning Commission and the Board of Mayor and Alderman before December for final approval.

Right now, the city is also going to start studying the floodway areas to determine any potential uses for those areas.
