HMK Architects Donate Truck to GraceWorks

GraceWorks New Truck from HMK Architects

GraceWorks is able to help more Williamson County residents thanks to the donation of a boxtruck by Brentwood based architectural firm, HMK Architects.

HMK donated $41,000 to purchase a used truck in celebration of its 15th anniversary, principal partner Neal Hinson said.

“Our firm has been very blessed over the years, so for our 10th anniversary in 2009 we started a tradition of giving back to the community as part of our celebration, and inviting our business associates to join us. We wanted to continue that with our 15th anniversary this year.We chose GraceWorks because its ministry is rooted in Williamson County and because they have such a great track record of putting resources where they are needed the most. GraceWorks has an amazing variety of programs that provide help and hope to underserved families in our area,” he added.

Before this donation, GraceWorks had only one truck to pick up large donation items for their thrift store, transport food items for the pantry and items to events. The addition of another truck was much needed.

“The truck donation from HMK could not have come at a better time,” said GraceWorks executive director Tina Edwards. “Not only has the one truck we have been unreliable as of late, but we are continually receiving numerous donation requests, which we are forced to turn down due to scheduling conflicts with the one truck we have.” A second truck will allow GraceWorks to both increase financial support by picking up donations for the GraceWorks Thrift Store and increase help to clients, Edwards said.

HMK invited others to support GraceWorks by bringing items to their anniversary celebration. They nearly filled the back of GraceWorks new truck–a 2008 diesel GMC–with diapers, paper goods, food and even a couple of bicycles.

“When we put the word out that this anniversary celebration was also a chance to bring donations for GraceWorks, the response was immediate, said HMK principal Beth Kickirillo. “We continue to be blessed by our work and we are honored that so many of our clients, consultants, friends, and family were able to join us in our efforts to ‘stuff the truck’ with donations during our open house.”

About GraceWorks
GraceWorks was organized in 1995 by area residents who saw needs in Williamson County that were not being filled. Last year, GraceWorks helped county residents 30,000 times through 20 programs that include rental and utility assistance, food, medication, backpacks and school supplies, Christmas gifts, clothing and more. One million dollars of food was distributed in 2013.
