HHGregg Begins Liquidation Sales

HHGregg

HHGregg announced over the weekend that it will be closing all of its stores. Filing for bankruptcy, the company chose to shutter all locations after efforts to find a buyer were not successful.

All 220 stores will be closed by the end of May with the Cool Springs location closing at the end of April.

CEO Bob Riesbeck said in a statement that the company has “continued to fight for the future” since March 6th when it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, reported the IndyStar.

“While we had discussions with more than 50 private equity firms, strategic buyers and other investors, unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in our plan to secure a viable buyer …within the expedited timeline set by our creditors,” Riesbeck said.

Based on the announcement, customers only have a few weeks to use gift cards and return items. Due to the bankruptcy filing, returns will be limited to items purchased before March 6.

HHGregg was founded by Henry Harold Gregg and his wife Fansy in 1955. Their headquarters are in Indianapolis.

Currently, the Cool Springs location is offering 10% off all items with higher markdowns expected as the closing date approaches. There are two other HHGregg stores in the middle Tennessee area in addition to the Cool Springs location – one located at 100 Oaks on Thompson Lane and  one in Rivergate on Gallatin Road.

19 Retailers on the Verge of Closing

HHGregg Cool Springs is located at 1735 Galleria Boulevard, Franklin.
