GRAYS on Main Creates Drink & Dessert for Nashville Elvis Festival

In less than 10 days, the Nashville Elvis Festival will be taking place with events at the Paragon Studios, Franklin Theatre and GRAYS on Main. The festival is March 30-April 2. During the day on Friday, March 31 and Saturday April 1, Elvis fans can participate in events at the Franklin Theatre and on those nights, GRAYS on Main will be hosting an after-party with Jeff Lewis.

The party starts at 9:30pm with Nathan Belt & The Buckles performing and a special drink and dessert created by GRAYS for the special festival.

Kala Ellis, GRAYS bartender created “Love Me Tender.” In honor of The King,  the cocktail they created combines some of Elvis Presley’s favorite things.

Ellis says, “This refreshing libation is all shook up. Many of us know that Elvis loved his bacon, peanut butter, and banana sandwiches. But did you know that, although he wasn’t much of a drinker, he was smitten with Peach Brandy?”

“With the Love Me Tender, we pulled all these flavors together. Using the nuttiness of Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey and Fee Brothers Black Walnut bitters, the creamy sweetness of Créme de Pêche (a peach brandy), a hint of St. George Absinthe, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and GRAYS Homemade Banana-Peach Syrup, we achieved a cocktail made to please The King. We didn’t forget the bacon, either! We garnish the cocktail with our GRAYS homemade, limited-availability Candied Banana Peel. It looks just like bacon straight off the stove top,” Ellis continued.

And for those looking for a sweet treat, Pastry Chef, Melinda Knight created “The Hound Dog.” Combining some of Elvis’ favorite flavors of bacon, bananas and peanut butter, Chef Knight uses Benton’s smoky bacon which is candied with brown sugar then cut into pieces and folded into the brown sugar banana cake batter before baking and topped with peanut butter frosting.

Chef Knight says, “The combination of fresh bananas, bacon bits in the banana cake, along with the crunch of roasted peanuts and candied bacon sprinkled on the cake is the perfect fork-full combination when dipped in the concord grape jam making the quintessential go-to favorites of the one and only King, Elvis. This Hound Dog Cake will hunt all the way to Memphis.”

Tickets to the after-party are $10 at the door.
