The Lions are off to an auspicious start.

In its first game as a TSSAA member Grace Christian Academy (1-0) of Franklin got its first win.

McEwen Couldn’t Keep Up

The 1A Region 4 school visited McEwen High School, winning 28-21.

The Lions are coached by former Titans quarterback Rusty Smith, who won his first game not by passing but with a dominant run game.

GCA employed a one-two-three punch on the ground. Jordan Whitson, Dylan Woods and quarterback Austin Amor accounted for 152 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Amor, who threw 5 of 11 for 105 yards, carried the ball 14 times for 42 yards. Whitson led the Lions with 80 yards and three touchdowns on his 11 carries, while Woods pitched in 30 yards and a score on 8 carries.

Friday, GCA goes to Cornersville (0-2) before hosting its first TSSAA home game, against district rival Summertown, the week after.
