The Franklin Special School District is making good on one of the Board’s strategic planning objectives by hiring a third Instructional Technology Specialist to help teachers plan effective and innovative lessons using technology and online resources. Josh Bracamontes will join the two current Instructional Technology Specialists on July 10 to begin planning for the 2017-2018 school year.
“We are excited to welcome Josh to the FSSD family,” said Director of Schools Dr. David Snowden. “His passion for maximizing student learning through the use of technology and his collaborative approach in working with colleagues were evident during the interview process.”
“We are beginning the first full year of the 1:1 laptop/device phase-in in the middle school grades and that has required a significant amount of time from the 5th-8th grade IT Specialist,” Snowden continued. Snowden expects Bracamontes, as the third IT specialist, to greatly relieve the departmental load and provide teachers with more time to meet and plan with teaching teams, to provide differentiated professional learning opportunities and to model and co-teach with technology rich lessons in the classrooms.
Bracamontes comes to the FSSD from Maury County Schools, where he most recently served as Dean of Students at Hampshire Unit School, a K-12 campus, for the past year. Prior to that position, he has been a general music teacher, a band teacher and a math interventionist.
His leadership experience includes instructional coaching, serving as a member of the school leadership team, mentoring new teachers, and serving as a PTO liaison. As a teacher, Bracamontes earned the distinction of a Microsoft Innovative Educator, and was the Hampshire Unit School Teacher of the Year in 2015-2016. He went on to represent the school district as Teacher of the Year in the state contest and was a regional qualifier.
Bracamontes holds a B.A. degree in Music Education from Southern Illinois University and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Middle Tennessee State University.
