Friends Bring Prom to Franklin Teen in Hospital

Caroline Reynolds

Franklin High School held their prom on Saturday night. As students prepared for the big event, there was one teen who was unable to attend the big event.

Caroline Reynolds is 17-years-old and a junior at Franklin High. Reynolds suffers from a chronic illness and has been hospitalized a total of 11 days in the month of April with 2 separate stays at The Children’s Hospital at TriStar Centennial in Nashville.

Dana Reynolds, Caroline’s mother told us, “After the first stay she said she felt like knowing that prom was coming, it would maybe help her get better. Sadly it didn’t and her illness got a little worse. We returned to the hospital and at that point knew she would be missing prom .”

That’s when four of Caroline’s friends, along with her boyfriend, decided to bring prom to her in the hospital.

“When I told our nurses here about it, they decided to really bring prom to Caroline and set up the playroom here with a photo booth, decorations,  snacks for her friends and even music,” said Caroline’s mom.

And just like other prom attendees who spent the day pampering with hair and makeup, Caroline did the same.

It was not until her friends arrived did she see the reveal of the playroom which had been converted to a night to remember for Caroline.

Even two of Caroline’s favorite nurses returned that evening after their shift to take part in the event.

Caroline said, “I haven’t smiled this big in a year.”

“I’m beyond impressed with the staff and nurses here. They treat you like family,” continued Caroline’s mother.
