FRA’s Highland Games Set for Saturday

Franklin Road Academy continues its traditional Highland Games and Track Relays March 28.

Now in year 17, the Highland Games has raised over $55,000 to date for local charities.

“As well as being one of the largest and most unique track and field meets in the state, the Highland Games is a perfect blend of the FRA mission,” explained FRA athletic director Josh Flegel. “Balancing our Christian ideals of service and charity alongside a competitive environment, that allows athletes and coaches to challenge themselves and build fellowship with a diverse collection of schools from across the mid-state.”

The event will be held at FRA’s state of the art track and field facilities with a cost for the all day event set at $5 per adult and free for students.

The high school field events begin at 9 a.m. while the middle school and high school running events will begin at 11 a.m. All gate proceeds for this event will be donated to Nashville Inner City Ministry.

Nashville Inner City Ministry is a non-profit founded in 1979 by Lytle and Sandra Thomas as an outreach to the young people living in the public housing projects of Nashville’s inner city area with the mantra that “Until God gives up on mankind, people must not give up on each other.” With a staff of 22 workers and a core group of a thousand dedicated volunteers, the non-profit enters every major public housing development in Nashville and transports up to 1,200 children and teenagers to life skill training classes.
