On Thursday afternoon, the Franklin Police Department revealed one man died during a traffic crash that morning.

At 9:30 a.m., FPD responded to a personal injury crash involving a motorcycle driven by a 35-year-old Franklin man and an SUV. The crash later closed the roadway for several hours.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling south on Long Lane, approaching Peytonsville Road. During his travel, a Kentucky man driving an SUV turned left in front of him into the TA Truck Stop.

The motorcyclist struck the SUV as it was driven into his path and was critically injured. He was transported to the Williamson Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The department has not released his identity.

“Our hearts are with the family as they grieve this tragic loss,” the department said in its news release.

An in-depth investigation into the crash is underway.
